The Sturgeon Moon Experience
The Sturgeon Moon is the traditional name given to the full moon that occurs in August. The name originates from Native American tribes and early fishing communities around the Great Lakes, where sturgeon fish were most plentiful and easiest to catch during this time of year. Revered for their strength and longevity, sturgeon became a symbol of resilience, abundance, and connection to nature’s rhythms.
Though the moon itself does not appear like a sturgeon, it often glows with a rich golden hue when rising in the warm summer sky. The Sturgeon Moon marks a time of harvest, reflection, and transition as summer slowly gives way to autumn. It invites us to savor the season’s final moments of warmth, abundance, and beauty.
